The most new cases handled by the inspector general involved the departments of public works and transportation, mirroring recent trends. Over the 2013-2015 period, those departments accounted for the most cases — each represented 18 percent of total cases, the report said. Cases involving the fire and police departments increased significantly in fiscal 2015.
